Tis’ the season to be topless

Even after a couple of months being at home, I still like to get a little ‘desert’ fix.  And today I discovered a little entry by Teresa from ‘candieandcookie’ that took me straight back to the desert and those lovely winter months...also know as ‘topless season’.   This entry reminded me of a road trip I took with my friend Cressy in her beloved jeep.  The winter months in Dubai are just perfect for ripping the top off the roof, and venturing into the unknown. 

These photos were taken on the trip which started with a little drive to Al Ain, got hijacked by some random camels, a few Sheikh Hamdan flags, and a local sharing dates while we watched him train his falcons.  

This coming April I am heading to New Zealand to catch up with my dear friend who has now moved to Auckland.  And for a few days, as desert people do, we will get in the car and go topless.  WOOP WOOP, NZ won’t know what hit them!

Everybody has a little, perhaps secret wishlist for Christmas.  This is one baby that's on mine. 

I tend to volunteer something to make life a little easier for the gift givers, this year it will probably be the new Keith Richards autobigraphy.  But what I really want is the 1966, hardcopy, 1st edition of 'Valley of the Dolls' by Jacqueline Susann.

‘meh’

It’s been two months now since I arrived back home in Adelaide. Don’t get me wrong, I am so so happy to be back, and still appreciating everything this lovely town has to offer…but this week...

'meh'

I am starting to struggle with the fact that I have completely lost my ‘social circle’. My close friends are long gone, living in Dubai, New Zealand, London etc. but alas, not one of them followed me home.

So no more…

…fancy a cheeky pint at the pub?
…shall we road trip it this weekend?
…is it time for another girls night out?
…or let's go chill by the pool and pretend we are on holiday.

Sorry to rant, but another weekend is coming up and I have no social life. Adelaide is lovely and I have some fab peeps here who have taken me under their wing, but it’s more on the ‘clicky’ side and less on the ‘where all expats, come join in the fun, you never know who I know that you may get along with, oh yeah and this friend of mine, think you would get on so well, let’s all go for margaritas…’

I miss my friends, and am feeling a little too tired to sell myself to new ones.

So if you see me wandering in Adelaide, come and say hello, I promise to buy you a pint…
